An Evening Walk

Lisa and I took an evening walk down through Kenidjack valley hoping for a rare migrant, unfortunately North Westerlies block the more rarer migrants but I managed captured the Blue Tit and Swallow in flight. Although heavily cropped I am pleased with the Blue Tit as I have been trying to capture small birds in flight and finding it difficult.

I went to Marazion this evening hoping to see and photograph the Blue Headed Yellow Wagtail,  . No luck with the Wag but I found eighteen Whimbrel on the beach.

Barn Swallows And More At Home

This morning before work, I looked out of the window and the garden was full of Swallows feeding voraciously and resting on the roof tops. I should imagine they had just arrived from Africa. I apologise for boring you with more Hirundine images but I could not resist a couple of shots in the evening light taken from the garden..

Swallows, Sand Martin, And Heron

Leaving work after a lovely sunny day the evening light was stunning so I collected my camera gear and went to Marazion. Plenty of Swallows and Sand Martins were feeding on the marsh and  flying at speed. I find it hard to get a Swallow these days, a swing of the hips and follow through with your camera, like shooting with a weapon works for me.

Ring Ouzel

With the wind and rain hammering in this morning, I made the decision to decorate a bedroom, then the weather cleared and the sun shone, now i am in a dilemma. I have got to carry on with the decorating but with the occasional glance out of the hall window, longingly looking at the birds on my feeders wishing I was out there birding instead of decorating. A quick scan of the Hawthorn trees I saw the thigh of  what I initially thought was a Blackbird but noticed the feather pattern was different, running to get the camera I grabbed a shot through the double glazing of a Female Ring Ouzel, the second one to visit the garden this year. I will have to clean the windows more often.

Marazion

Driving through Marazion yesterday late afternoon, I stopped and spoke to Lynton Proctor who pointed out a just reported Garganey on the reserve, as the daylight hours are increasing I drove home for the camera, hoping to get some shots of it in the evening light. No luck with the Garganey but I managed to grab a shot of a Sandwich Tern diving for Sand eel, a mediocre Sparrow Hawk image and Sanderling in flight.

Little Ringed Plover

The Easterly wind is still blowing cold and strong, today we went to St Gothian sands hoping it would offer some shelter from the cutting wind and to photograph Little Ringed Plover ( no luck with the wind). Easterly winds are a bird watchers dream wind as it tends to send rare migratory our way.
